The purpose of this message is to provide you with advice on HOME in Queanbeyan’s (HOME) approach to coronavirus (COVID-19).

Our team and members of the Board have been monitoring developments and are taking cues from government to inform what we do.

Our main areas of concern include:

  • the high risk of communicating the disease through public gatherings
  • the extremely high risk presented by COVID-19 to vulnerable members of the community
  • the difficulty of assuring cleanliness of surfaces.

We will be addressing COVID-19 in two stages: 1. Containment 2. Management.

We are currently in the Containment phase, seeking to do what we can to mitigate the spread of this highly contagious and extremely dangerous disease amongst our residents, staff, and guests.

Thus, we have decided to:

  • temporarily suspend all non-essential services to HOME residents;
  • St Benedict’s which provides meals and advocacy to the homeless has been temporarily closed to their guests coming into the hall;
  • encourage residents and staff to comply with social distancing protocols.

Please be assured, our priority is the safety and welfare of our residents.

If you need any further clarification, or have any concerns, please call our team on 62842409.
